چکیده

We present an approximate method for solving nonlinear control problems over long time horizons, in which the full model is preserved initial part of horizon, while remainder horizon modeled using a linear relaxation. As this problem may still be too large to solve directly, we Benders decomposition-based solution algorithm that iterates between and parts horizon. This extends dual dynamic programming approach commonly employed optimization linearized hydro power systems. prove proposed converges after finite number iterations, even when stage are solved inexactly. also bound suboptimality split-horizon with respect original problem, terms properties map state-input trajectories. then apply case study concerning multiple reservoir system, approximating head effects second McCormick envelopes. demonstrate near-optimal solutions can obtained shrinking setting used only short section For example, shown more practical than both conventional multi-cell envelope approximation from literature.

A Two-Stage Hybrid Flowshop Scheduling Problem with Serial Batching

In this paper the problem of serial batch scheduling in a two-stage hybrid flow shop environment with minimizing Makesapn is studied. In serial batching it is assumed that jobs in a batch are processed serially, and their completion time is defined to be equal to the finishing time of the last job in the batch. The analysis and implementation of the prohibited transference of jobs among the mac...

A Two-Stage Stochastic Integer Programming Approach to Integrated Staffing and Scheduling with Application to Nurse Management

We study the problem of integrated staffing and scheduling under demand uncertainty. This problem is formulated as a two-stage stochastic integer program with mixed-integer recourse. The here-and-now decision is to find initial staffing levels and schedules. The wait-and-see decision is to adjust these schedules at a time closer to the actual date of demand realization. We show that the mixed-i...

Two-stage fuzzy-stochastic programming for parallel machine scheduling problem with machine deterioration and operator learning effect

This paper deals with the determination of machine numbers and production schedules in manufacturing environments. In this line, a two-stage fuzzy stochastic programming model is discussed with fuzzy processing times where both deterioration and learning effects are evaluated simultaneously. The first stage focuses on the type and number of machines in order to minimize the total costs associat...

Dynamic Scheduling with Genetic Programming

This paper investigates the use of genetic programming in automatized synthesis of scheduling heuristics. The applied scheduling technique is priority scheduling, where the next state of the system is determined based on priority values of certain system elements. The evolved solutions are compared with existing scheduling heuristics for single machine dynamic problem and job shop scheduling wi...

Stochastic Short-Term Hydro-Thermal Scheduling Based on Mixed Integer Programming with Volatile Wind Power Generation

This study addresses a stochastic structure for generation companies (GenCoʼs) that participate in hydro-thermal self-scheduling with a wind power plant on short-term scheduling for simultaneous reserve energy and energy market. In stochastic scheduling of HTSS with a wind power plant, in addition to various types of uncertainties such as energy price, spinning /non-spinning reserve prices, unc...
